CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. – Charlie Lake and Fort Nelson are two of eight communities receiving funding from Northern Development for projects through its new Community Development Programs.
Funding of over $1.9 million was approved Monday for eight communities throughout Northern BC.
The Tse’k’wa Heritage Society (THS) was approved for $300,000 to assist in developing the Tse’k’wa (“rock house”), also known as the Charlie Lake Cave, National Historic Site. Components include constructing an outdoor amphitheatre, parking area, universally accessible outhouses and walking trails, interpretive displays and signage, and on-site renovations that will include a commercial kitchen facility and heritage repository for artifacts. Once completed, it will be a new Indigenous cultural experience in the FSJ area.
