BRIDGEPORT St. Vincent’s Medical Center will sponsor the webinar “Take A Knee to Pain The Truth Behind Meniscal Tears” from 3 to 4 p.m. Jan. 25.
Dr. Aaron Schachter, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, will discuss meniscal tears and treatment options. A live question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
The meniscus is a piece of cartilage that acts as a cushion between the thighbone and shinbone; there are two in each knee joint. They can be torn or damaged by sports activities or sudden knee pivots. Meniscus tears can be found in children or adults, they can be caused by sports injuries, from jumping or running, or may be part of an osteoarthritis and degeneration issue.
