Richard McCullough has been chosen as the next president to run Florida State University after a contentious process that saw Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran snuffed out early. McCullough was chosen after a months-long and much-scrutinized search. The decision, determined by a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees Monday, is still subject to approval by the FSU Board of Governors. That meeting is expected to happen in June. Since 2012, McCullough has been the vice provost for research at Harvard. In that role McCullough was charged with working with the president and provost to “encourage, cultivate, and coordinate high impact academic research across all of Harvard’s schools and affiliated institutions,” according to the college’s website.

UW Trustees Budget Committee Hearings Monday, Tuesday | News

May 7, 2021 Units of the University of Wyoming will present their proposed 2021-22 budgets to the Budget Committee of the UW Board of Trustees Monday and Tuesday, May 10-11. The budget hearings will take place at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center and livestreamed at https://wyolinks.uwyo.edu/budget/. Deputy Vice President for Finance David Jewell will present the university’s overall budget proposal at 8 a.m. Monday, followed by individual academic colleges, schools, divisions and offices. The hearings are scheduled to last until at least 5:30 p.m. each day, with 30-minute lunch breaks. The full schedule of hearings may be found here.

Goshen Township trustees open bids for long-awaited road project | News, Sports, Jobs

khowell@salemnews.net GOSHEN TOWNSHIP Trustees Monday night opened sealed bids for the Smith Goshen Road resurfacing project, then tabled the issue so the Mahoning County Engineer’s Office can review them. The project addresses the stretch of roadway between state Route 165 and Middletown Road. It is being funded through a $168,952 Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) grant, with the township responsible for $78,303 to complete the project. The township received six bids: RT Vernal at $146,978, Lindy Paving at $142,471.75, Barbicas Construction at $136,622.20, Chagrin Valley Paving at $154,107, Yarian Brothers Construction at $196,537.12 and Kirila Contractors at $142,474. They were turned over to Bob Durbin of the Mahoning County Engineer’s Office to review.
