Strong DPPA scheme desired
The Minister of Industry and Trade is likely to sign a draft circular regulating a pilot project for electricity purchases and sales between renewable energy generators and consumers under direct power purchase agreements. However, while the ministry is gaining support from some organisations, experts advise designing the schemes in an appropriate manner.

The reacquisition of a 49-per-cent stake in Trung Nam Thuan Bac solar power plant by A Chau Industrial Technology JSC is considered key to ensure a long-term revenue source. The plant, which began operations two years ago, has the total investment capital of $217.4 million and a capacity of 204MW. Each year the solar power plant provides a maximum power output of 450 million kilowatt-hours, with a selling price of 9.5 US cents per kWh over 20 years.
Trungnam Group sells stake in solar power plant

The Trungnam Group has sold a 49 percent stake in a central Vietnam solar power plant to an electricity equipment manufacturer.
The 49 percent stake, whose value has not been disclosed, has been bought by A Chau Industrial Technology, a manufacturer of electrical equipment that has been showing increasing interest in solar power development in recent years. It now operates five solar power plants nationwide.
