thank you for watching. we were just talking about the summer olympics, it s worth noting, that minutes from now, we will officially be two years out from the 2026 world cup that will take place right here in the u.s. after 30 years, and you can stream all the action live on telemundo and peacock so get your countdown clock started now. on that note, i wish you a very good night. from all our colleagues across the networks of nbc news, thank you for staying up late with me. okay, there is a lot going on tonight. the former president of the united states and presumptive republican nominee had a meeting with a probation officer today which is a thing we have to get used to saying. we will talk about what may have come up and how it could impact his sentencing coming up in a month. pennsylvania governor josh shapiro will talk about one of the biggest political questions of the moment. how should joe biden and democrats talk about trumps conviction and how much? we will sta
i will never vote to overturn roe v wade. he lied at the time and kennedy did not vote for him. he lied about every aspect of this flag story. he said it was the neighbor fighting with his wife about trump. that altercation came in february of 2001. he said it was put up because people were putting yard signs near school bus pickup where kids could see it. schools were closed because of the pandemic. and he said it s about his neighbors. then we found the christian nationalist flag. who does he blame that one on? it seems he has an affinity for these flags that suggest he supports insurrection and trump. the idea that he will rule in the trump immunity case is an insult to our intelligence and
if this were any court other than the supreme court, the binding rules of ethics would force the recusal. the supreme court has a not biting ethics code and they should recuse themselves, and if they do not, they are showing their unfitness to be supreme court justices. jamie raskin suggested that the justice department could ask the other justices to require justice alito and thomas to recuse themselves from the trump immunity case. how realistic is that? i think the justice department should request it. whether you get a majority of the supreme court to agree with that, i don t know. one more question. trumps extreme rhetoric has only intensified since january 6th. what do you do or what you trying to do to prepare for the
that oversees it and funds it is not smart. i think to your broader point the supreme court has put itself in a very dangerous position, you know. it was warned by other justices that it would overturn roe verses wade, cause a legitimacy crisis for the court. it did and it has. that continues to reverberate. you might think that the conservatives would back away from the crisis. instead what we have seen is they seemingly sped up the case involving colorado to make sure donald trump had an answer that he could be on the ballot in tame for colorado primary, they seemed to move quite slowly on the trump immunity case so that they have foreclosed any possibility that the case can go to trial before the election. they sat on the south carolina racial gerrymandering case even though both sides said they
and the impact it has on the race. i think donald trump, their campaign thing said joe biden is going to come out looking weak, they definitely want it. but that is a huge risk, katie. joe biden has policy after policy, winning policies behind it. and the thing that has been a hurdle is this idea that he is older and feeble. he has never walked into the debate with any policy chops and he always felt he walks out winning. and biden upstaged him in the 2020 debate. biden drives on lowered expectations his whole career. what is yours? we kind of took the air out of it. the trump immunity case. i want to know what the supreme court decides. we should be getting it in the next few weeks. june is fast approaching and that is the end of term. did they decide that donald trump has no immunity? presidents have no immunity? do they decide he has limited immunity? do they decide that the judge has to go back and figure out
