moves like the travel ban. great to hear from you. a lot more to come on this. really appreciate it. the man who conducted that controversial issue with bannon that a white house official says left president trump furious. he is the co-editor of the american prospect and mark preston to digest more of this. did you get the sense at the time that what bannon was telling you could bring him down? well, i got the sense of somebody who was very full of himself, who was very reckless, reckless in thinking that he could call an editor of a well-known liberal publication and talk almost as if we were having a private strategy conversation, not bother to even say where this was off the record and somehow think this would play to his advantage. the other thing that s really
they re 0-5. in the georgia special election, you saw karen handel do much better than president trump did back in november. the democratic party for worse, i think, is becoming a port of perpetual protest. something the american people are rejecting. the republican party is passing laws and offering solutions. let s talk protests. one of john ossoff s tag line was make trump furious. he saw that wasn t working. so he pivots to tax cuts for businesses. so in terms of the protests and the very loud voices we ve heard from the left, how is that working for ya ll? we have a history of protesting from the boston tea party all the way through. our nation has resisted governments that we didn t feel were legitimate and authortorian governments. the trump administration is not representing the ideals of this country.
yeah. it s even better. well, this ethical election depicted 145th of one half of our branches of government. only happens if they misconstrue what happened down there. progressives are saying he ran in the primary and won by saying vote for me and make trump furious. then he won and became militantly vanilla campaigning against government waste and i m going to have a high-tech and all that. if they say that if we only go hard left we will bring people out, if they say we re really more interested in realigning the party for the long term than winning elections in the short term, then what happened in georgia will really matter. i think if there is one sure thing coming out of these special elections is that people will overinflate their significance. it s true. i guess if you look at it, though, who s got more to worry
one half of our three branches of government matters only if they misconstrue what happened. progressives are saying he ran in the primary and won by saying vote for me and make trump furious. then he campaigned against government waste. if they say that if we only go hard left we will bring people out, if they say we are really more interested in realigning the party for the long term and winning elections in short term then what happened in georgia will really matter. i think if there is one sure thing coming out of special elections is that people will overconflate the significance. who has more to worry about? republicans or democrats after what they have watched? is it democrats and the message problem or is it republicans they they are not going to get $30 million every time. i think it depends who you
the one in south carolina the republicans will win today. georgia is the last chance that they can ride president trump s unpopularity into office. ossoff started his campaign with a fundraising appeal to make trump furious. when i was there he didn t talk about trump at all. he talked about restoring decency and respect to government which people interpreted as an anti-trump message but he has been trying to appeal to economic moderates there. this is the democrats chance to show they can win one. bill: the money is really insane. what does that tell you? it s gotten psychological now. remember, this is one out of 435 seats in the house. it is not worth the money. and i think both sides realize that. what has happened is after losing these other ones democrats decided to make a stand and what you have a situation now is both sides have dug in and poured money
