McDonald began to “act out aggressively” and verbally abused the neighbours for calling the police. While being moved by police to the patrol car outside the address, she loudly yelled she would return to the neighbour’s address and burn it down. Police said the occupants of the house genuinely feared for their safety and believed that McDonald would carry out the threat.

McDonald pleaded guilty to several charges at the Nelson District Court on Wednesday. The second incident happened on February 1, when McDonald was heard by her neighbours to say something like “I’m going to kill yous [sic]”.
