WEATHERSFIELD Wanting to reach truck drivers, travelers and others who stop at the Petro Truck Stop, Ron and Virginia Shank offer a service every Sunday morning that they call “The Truck Stop Ministry at Petro.”
The truck stop has a theater used as a chapel inside the main building. The Shanks said they get many travelers, truck drivers, homeless people and local residents at the weekly service.
The two restarted the in-person non-denominational worship in October after having to go online Sunday mornings for most of the year.
Virginia said people who are traveling or truck drivers who can’t attend their own church, or may not even have a church, will stop in on Sundays.
