we know the city council had approved it. is this a court decision finally coming down today? reporter: correct. so the city officials decided to remove the two monuments four years ago and then you guys mentioned at the lead-in to the top of the show, there were a bunch of protesters, neo-nazi groups. there was one person who died but 19 who were injured. separately there was a group of citizens who decided to file a lawsuit to stop the monuments from being taken down. so the circuit court decided to rule in their favor and then after that the supreme court decided to overrule that decision, reverse the decision, and that s what allowed us to get to this point where the monuments would be taken down sometime today. deon hampton, we know you will stay there and keep tracking the latest. i do hear what sounds like a truck rolling into the a area,
