The entire project is slated for completion in early 2022 and will encompass 47,000 square feet of space. The added capacity will address growth for emergency room services for the next 10 to 15 years.
“This emergency room has a lot of flexibility to accommodate off-season volumes and peaks,” said Dr. Todd Bethel, systems medical director of NCH’s emergency rooms. “We can expand and contract as needed.”
The emergency room at the Baker hospital, 350 Seventh St. N., typically sees 140 patients daily in January and that volume drops to 75 patients a day in July.
It is the busiest of the two hospital-based emergency rooms run by NCH with annual volume of 40,000 patient visits. The other ER is at North Naples Hospital.
