LISBON Columbiana County commissioners took another step toward funding the Hanoverton sanitary sewer project by passing a resolution Wednesday to authorize the county engineer’s office to apply for up to $4 million in funding for the project.
The principal forgiveness loan through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency could cover a large portion of the project. According to Troy Graft, chief deputy sanitary engineer at the engineer’s office, the project could cost up to $5.5 million before it is completed. A forgiveness loan need not be paid back and there is no interest.
Graft said the county has already secured $950,000 through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and another $250,000 through the Appalachian Regional Commission toward the project.
