Autism Nature Trail appeals for funding with goal in sight

CASTILE — The group planning construction of the Autism Nature Trail (ANT) at Letchworth State Park is making a push for the final $700,000 it needs. “We are still about $700,000 away from meeting our overall budget goal,” ANT Co-chair Loren Penman said Tuesday. “This final push is largely for our programming fund; while we don’t need the full amount for the trail to open, we would like to utilize ‘campaign momentum’ to ensure we have this funding in place for the future. The ANT is now an official New York State Parks project, identified for completion in 2021, Penman said. “We have worked with amazing professionals from In.Site: Architecture in Perry and Trowbridge Wolf Michaels Landscape Architects in Ithaca for years, but their work has been translated into construction drawings,” she said. “So much now is weather-dependent.”
