this is not a topic that needs to be put under the rug, right, and not have the ability of kids and their families to discuss this and get treatment and think about, of course, it s a life changing decision. i can t imagine that anyone would think about doing this that hadn t spent a lot of hours and time talking to their loved ones. is this the right thing for me to do? and to not have it available for people to discuss it whether you re 13, 17 or 21, excuse me, seems absurd. i m having trouble thinking of laws that would over rule the recommendation of a physician in this context, right? so this law is at odds with what physicians recommend. in fact, what medical associations have advised, which is that in consultation with of course your parent or guardian and a medical provider, you can get to a place where this procedure is appropriate to be performed under the age of 18 or
were simpler and easy for his cognition to handle. the other thing about his other nicknames is that they re even the ones pretty horrible were the sorts of things you could imagine had genesis and something someone would have said in a focus group, right? i m having trouble thinking of the focus group where swing voter looks at ron desantis and s says it and this doesn t feel like a top ten nickname and crucially, the thing that makes republican voters sort of forgive him when he s out there throwing pumnches, he always claims i m just punching back. to my knowledge, ron desantis has not thrown a first punch so this seems like you re fighting inside the tent. he s throwing a punch by existing. [ laughter ] i m just saying that he is there and that is the problem if trump wants to run again. that s funny. desantis has been tested in this
hearing that has laid out explicitly in some of the hearings where they said wee need your money trump supporters because we re going to fight this election. we re going overturn the election. send us $20, $100 whatever you could send us to the tune of $250 million. but it turns out, according to committee and the evidence that they ve presented, there was no such organization and that money went to other places like paying donald trump s legal bills. is that fraud to you? do you see a case there for doj? yeah, it doesn t appear to be a hard case. trump university, again, but obviously with much higher stakes and our friend barbara mcquade, an msnbc analyst has written a great piece about this. i will say, however, i have trouble thinking that is where the prosecution alone should be. give me a charge. but that does not capture it all. the gravity of what donald trump tried to do to our democracy. yes, he tried to defraud people, but he also tried to defraud the united states governm
toward hate crime when you look at his video rants that have a racial tint to it. sort of rails against whites, against jews, against all kinds of different people. and i m told there are literally hundreds of these videos on youtube and maybe other media platforms. that s one possibility. transit system does not really invoke federal jurisdiction. could be a use of a weapon of mass destruction with the smoke bombs. that may be defined under the federal system as a weapon of mass destruction. i m having trouble thinking of other federal charges here, just mass shootings, per se, don t invoke federal jurisdiction. so at least for the time being i m leaning toward, might even be an act of terrorism. might be a terrorism statute involved, because he has a political ideology, clearly an ideology, clearly trying to intimidate the general public
but most people want to return to some sense of normalcy, whatever that might be for stoneman douglas for the rest of the year. but i would say probably by monday when we go back to the full schedule, then it will feel like the normal school with more security on campus. i want to get you to weigh in on the debate about how to prevent something like this from happening again. as you know, president trump is among those who floated this very controversial idea of arming some teachers. he says only those who are highly trained. do you agree with that idea? do you think that he could have a point? he might have a point. i m having trouble thinking that i would be armed with a gun. i ve talked to a lot of people over the last week about this. i know there is a sentinel program in polk county in florida that they say is affective and there has been no shoot gz in polk countries so it is hard to say if it is affective. i know staff wouldn t prefer for us to have guns and more security pe
