to the crime-infested countries they came from. the baltimore sun responded in a scathing editorial headline, it s better to have a few rats than to be one. writing, mr. trump sees attacking african-american members of congress as good politics. as it both warms the cockles of the white supremacists who love him and causes so many of the thoughtful people who don t to scream. but after a weekend of targeting cummings and baltimore, trump expanded his attacks this morning to the reverend al sharpton, founder of the national action network, of course, and my colleague ahead of a press conference by civil rights activists in baltimore. the president wrote al is a con man, a trouble making, always looking for a score. adding he hates whites and cops. reverend al sharpton, president of the action network and host of politicsnation and my colleague here on msnbc is here now. you are in the crossfire. you may be in the crosshairs. what do you make of that,
trouble making. there are going to be other people that meet in like a storm and you re going have a real conflict out there. your thoughts? chris, a lot of people in the government are anxious and disappointed. why, chris? because george washington gave a great example of what this country is and showed why our founding fathers built an exceptional nation. in the capitol rotunda, there is a painting that captures the moment when washington turns over his military commission after being elected president to make it clear that in this country, the people are in charge and not the military. and that in this country, we celebrate the freedom of the people of every citizen, not the power of the government, as people do in other countries throughout the world. i think of cuba, the country my parents fled. you see military parades there constantly because the government wants to be at the center of society. our founding fathers didn t want the government to be at the center of society, and
malign activities throughout the region and troublemaking and be prepared to deal with any ratcheting up of iran s threatening posture and behavior. that said, i think we look back over the last two years and look at things through iran s eyes. we have to recognize it has been the united states that has been beating the drums of increased pressure that they could interpret as preparations for war. the united states has reneged on its commitment for the joint comprehensive plan of action the iranian nuclear deal and imposed additional sanctions on iran and forced other countries to choose between the united states and iran as far as whether or not they re going to do any business with iran. so, i think iranian leaders and some hardliners among them who see this as just preparations for the united states putting military pressure on iran in an effort to try to have regime change there. so, again, if there s been a march towards war, the drums of the united states of the trump administrat
