With the start of a new week, it’s easy to fall back on old favorites. Of course, familiar artists have a way of getting you through the grind, of giving you a bedrock that can help you through the day. Nothing beats a classic, and we’re no stranger to blasting that one perfect song on repeat just to give us the energy we really need.
Even so, it’s sometimes important to have a fresh start. Nothing is worse than the same old
same old, whether you’re stuck on a Zoom call or counting down the seconds to Friday afternoon. So, let’s not forget about all the fresh talent constantly popping up around the world. Music is always evolving. Occasionally, something new can be the perfect boost.
45 Best Punk Albums of 2020
I think it goes without saying how insane of a year 2020 was, but there were things to be grateful for too, and one of those things is the incredible amount of great punk records that came out this year. Aside from the fact that so many of these albums had messages that resonated strongly this year, it was inspiring to see how the punk community came together during some of the toughest times, even in a year where we couldn t get together physically. Throughout the whole year, this vast community protested, amplified voices, launched fundraisers, and helped support so many people, and released a lot of great music in the process. I tried to narrow down the best of it to 45 albums and EPs, but it wasn t easy. Countless great records came out this year under the punk umbrella, and even stopping at 45 meant leaving out some great ones.
so much for conversation about rex tillerson the new secretary of state for the next several hours. no, we ll talk about that, don t you worry. donald trump is look, he is a master marketer. you know, i think a lot of it is impulse that some ascribe to strategy. he does have relationships with people like this. but by trotting out kanye west at this hour, bright shining object is going to drive a lot of coverage for the next few hours. not on cnn. we just showed that because it was such an unusual picture and you wonder why kanye west was there. i mean, writ large, the impulse. one of the things social media s elevated is people chase bright shiny objects. the tension there is what is the heat and what is the outlier and it s our job to distinguish between the two. whenever you get a pop culture/politics mash-up of this nature, fascinating. yes. also is not deeply important. that s right. we promise, we will not treat it as such. we really won t. i m sure that s also
