fredricka whitfield. we are following breaking news now. desperate words coming from a kurdish military leader on the u.s. troop pullout of syria, saying, quote, you have given up on us, leaving us to be slaughtered, end quote. that sentiment in a document obtained exclusively by cnn, detailing a fiery exchange between the kurdish leader and a top u.s. diplomat. the kurds vented fury over troop pull back in northern syria. the u.s. doesn t want to see them turn to russia as its ally there, but kurds are saying they re left in a position that s what they may have to do. syrian kurds have been the main u.s. ally in defeating isis in northern syria. when that battle ended, the u.s. remained in the area. then days after u.s. forces abruptly pulled out of the area near the border after the president s announcement earlier in the week, turkey began a long expected offensive, launching ground and air assaults against the kurds.
a second lease on life. those who think isis has been dpe defeated you ll see. this decision is short sighted and rirresponsible. that s the same lindsey graham who has parroted the president. this seem like a political set up. you can t get a parking ticket conviction based on hearsay. perhaps republicans have been looking for a way to take on the president. he s not alone. the senate minority leader mitch mcconnell slamming trump s troop pull out as precipitous saying isis is still a dangerous threat. while the gop stands against him and trump s staunch ally lindeyy graham says it ensures isis comeback, trump is living in a totally different world on this issue. his bottom line. we defeated isis. we did it very quickly. very quicker than any general told us we could do.
