the world trade center. hopefully we ve learned our lesson, if not from then, certainly from 9/11 in 2001. there are people around the world that find our freedom so threatening that they re willing to kill themselves and others to prevent us from enjoying it. we have reporters from cnn covering this story all over, including right on the scene, susan candiotti is in times square. susan, help us understand the latest on the investigation, starting with the latest details on that nissan pathfinder, the car in question. reporter: well, john, good evening. specifically what we re knowing now from law enforcement sources is that that nissan pathfinder suv is believed to be in the tristate area. that means new york, new jersey, connecticut area. they ve been tracking the registration on that vehicle and that s what they ve been able to find out thus far. john? and earlier today, susan, mayor michael bloomberg used the
running, we could see the license plate. the police, obviously, knew, tracked down that license plate to a ford f-150 that was supposedly being repaired in a car lot out in connecticut, in stratford, connecticut. i went there today, no signs of life. it really looked like a junkyard, but what police are telling us, what law enforcement sources are telling us is that plate was removed from that f-150 and placed on this nissan pathfind pathfinder, potentially a deliberate attempt to mask who was registered to this vehicle as it drove into manhattan. so that s one of the clues they re working on. and, of course, you had susan candiotti reporting earlier tonight that the vin numbers, that vehicle registration number, that is actually physically on the car, is registered in the tristate area. they know who the car belongs to, but they re keeping quiet on exactly who that person is right now. so, drew, by all accounts, everyone is saying, oh, the new

phish, crab, all sorts of thing there is in the gulf? it could. it hasn t as of yet. and that s an important message to get out. for instance, with louisiana right now, in terms of the closures, first of all, the closures are preventive and second, they only cover about, oh, 23% of the area that louisiana uses to produce its seafood. so you still got 80% of the area that the fishermen fish that is opened to fish, producing fish, fish go on the market and frankly, it s really important for folks to understand that and continue to eat louisiana sea food. that is great. and being from louisiana, i have to say amen, brother. but every little bit counts here, especially with the economy is not doing well down there. these people were affected by hurricanes katrina and rita. and you know, the fishing industry hasn t been doing well for a while, even before that
