Two charged following murder of 23-year-old Jayla Wyatt

ZANESVILLE - A 20-year-old Zanesville woman has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Jayla Wyatt, a young mother who was killed in her downtown apartment Tuesday evening.  According to chief Tony Coury, police believe Tristaney Baker had been arguing with Wyatt and later showed up at her apartment where the dispute continued. Eventually Baker shot and killed Wyatt during the incident, police said.  A man Wyatt had been staying with arrived home to his 46 Sixth St. apartment shortly after and called police believing Wyatt was dead. Officers arrived on scene around 7:10 p.m. to find Wyatt face down with bullet wounds.

WHIZ News Two Suspects Charged Following Zanesville Homicide Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury released the names of the two suspects and victim. 23-year-old Jayla Wyatt was found dead in her apartment on 6th Street when police arrived at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday. Police received a phone call from a resident of the apartment stating he came home and found her lying on the ground, appearing to look deceased. She was shot with a firearm. 20-year-old Tristaney Baker is believed to be the shooting suspect. 23-year-old Devin McKnelly was in the area when the shooting occurred. Coury said McKnelly is believed to be the one who drove himself and Baker to the apartment and back to Columbus.
