Good governance requires good journalism: Tripura CM s advice to scribes

AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday said if the journalists in the state wanted good governance from him, he also require good journalism in return.
Deb was addressing the biennial conference of the Tripura Journalists Union held at Agartala Press Club here. If you want good governance from me, I will also require good journalism from you, he said.

With the initiative of the TJU (Tripura Journalists Union) the third biennial Gumati district and the first Amar pur and Karbook sub-divisional conference were held in Amarpur Revenue banglow today. To take participation the programme a large number of journalists from different parts of the district arrived in the revenue banglow in Amar Pur today. Pranab Sarkar, State Secretary of Tripura Journalists Union and Agartala Press Club Secretary inaugurated the first session of Tripura Journalists Union by lighting a lamp in the conference. After that, the second open session was inaugurated by the president of Gumati district council Swapan Adhikari by lighting a lamp at half past noon. Three members injured in Khayerpur attack, says CPI(M)
The CPI(M) alleged that at least three members of its farmers’ front sustained injuries in an attack on its programme at Khayerpur, near here in Tripura, on Sunday.
The programme was organised on the residential premises of former Assembly Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar to pay homage to those died during the ongoing farmers’ protest on the Delhi border.

The Hindu, Mr. Kar alleged that the local mandal president of the BJP led the attack on the programme of the All Indian Kishan Sabha (AIKS). He said party members Sadaranjan Deb, Ratan Das and Pinak Das were badly injured in the sudden attack, but conceded that the Left cadres had retaliated in “self defence”.
