Agartala: The last 72 hours have witnessed heavy political drama in Tripura. A majority of the stateâs ruling BJP MLAs and ministers met chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday late evening to reiterate their support for him.

Guwahati: Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb has shelved his plan of holding a public meeting on Sunday. Deb had planned to ‘seek advice and guidance’ of the people whether to continue as CM. However, the BJP central leadership advised Deb not to hold the rally.
Deb has been facing dissidence from party MLAs. After Deb’s meeting with ministers and MLAs on Wednesday, deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma told media persons in Agartala on Thursday that participants at the meeting told the CM that there was no need to hold a public meeting on Sunday as majority MLAs and the leadership were with him.
