Four people have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody following a massive blast that killed two people and injured around 15 at an illegal firecracker warehouse in Tripunithura, Tamil Nadu. The incident occurred when crackers were brought to be stored for an ongoing festival at a local temple. The firecrackers and gunpowder were illegally stored in a shed by the contractor, as per the instructions of temple officials.
Eyewitnesses said Manoharan, who ran a small spare parts shop, was dragged to the police station though he did not drive his motorbike under the influence of alcohol, and nor was he overspeeding.
