Kochi (Kerala) [India], May 22 (ANI): Maintaining strict vigil Kerala Police on Saturday was checking identity cards of people as they commute amid the state-wide lockdown that has been imposed to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic till May 30.
Triple lockdown in the Ernakulam district was withdrawn from today morning as the positivity rate and active caseload have come down but the lockdown with strict curbs will continue till May 30.
There are more vehicles on roads due to the lifting of triple lockdown in the district.

The boundaries of four major districts in Kerala, which report the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state,were sealed and restrictions were further intensified on Monday as a seven-day triple lockdownannounced by the state government came into force there from midnight. Majority of sub-roads were closed and police took control of the major roads in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts as part of efforts to arrest the massive spread of the virus infection.
Only essential services people and those travelling for meeting emergency needs were allowed to move out in all the four districts.
Borders were under the strict surveillance of police who could be seen returning many people while trying to travel without any valid reason in many places.

Triple lockdown in 4 Kerala districts kicks in from May 16 midnight
Triple lockdown will come into effect in four Kerala districts reporting the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state, from Sunday midnight and remain in force till May 23. The boundaries of the Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts will be sealed as part of the administration s bid to arrest the massive spread of coronavirus, while the current lockdown will continue in the other 10 districts of the state.
According to the guidelines issued by the Thiruvananthapuram district administration, shops dealing with food, groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meat and fish, animal fodder, poultry and cattle feed, bakeries will be open on alternate days starting from Monday onwards.
