This conference from Purdue University continues with biographers looking at political history, this talk was part of a twoday conference called remaking american political history, its an hour and a half. Welcome and thank you for attending our session on this beautiful friday afternoon. We will have to compete with the outdoors and hopefully we will convince you that the made the right choice, hanging out with you to talk about media and biography and political history. A lien between the four of us weve written at least 17 biographies, it might be more than that i was losing count because Randy Roberts has written so many, youve written more than half of our total number i think. So, we have a lot of experience in this genre, weve been drawn to and have an affinity for it in some way or another. This was somebody there are people who were skeptical about donald trump from the very beginning. This was Somebody Playing Ball with donald trump and was a supporter and maybe even going to be his Vice President ial candidate. So the fact that hes saying these kinds of things shows that he gave him a fair hearing, was willing to give him a try, and its become pretty clear that this is a highly problematic president. Part of the thing that is worrying to me is were starting to see everything through the prism of heres another twitter scandal, heres another bit of the crazy. How crazy. Youre talking about somebody who has more access to information about threats to america than almost any human being on earth, Senator Corker, saying hes afraid of world war iii, to the paper of record for the country. That should be a full stop, all traffic comes to a halt moment. Because this is a cry for help for the country. And yet but it doesnt come until after donald trump personally insults him on

As you pointed out, white house Officials Say the president is not done with going after corker, a Top Republican, a vote he needs. There are mixed feelings about that. Obviously, the president thinks this is a worthwhile strategy. He thinks he can go after corker with no problem, but not everyone in the west wing is convinced of that and certainly trumps allies outside of the west wing are not convinced of that. They believe that this is someone trump is going to need over the long term and also that hes just creating another spectacle thats not necessarily going to move forward the legislative agenda that hes hoping to advance.
