BBMP special commissioner (health) Dr KV Trilok Chandra said, “We are using drone technology on a pilot basis. Drones will assist in the census process by counting canines only around waterbodies in the city. The rest of the city will be covered on foot by our teams. Drone technology clubbed with on-foot census will not only help in better implementation of BBMP’s ABC and ARV program but will also provide more accurate data. It should not take more than two weeks once started.”
According to her, while the ABC centre, ASRA, came to pick up the dog two weeks ago, the animal has gone missing since then. Preethika and the residents allege that the centre has relocated the dog instead of keeping it under their watch for a few days before releasing it in the same area.
The Karnataka government had announced Namma Clinics for all 243 BBMP wards, modelled along the lines of Mohalla Clinics in Delhi to provide basic health care services to poor people in urban areas.
