Thats the rain shadow and the nature of the warm sort of el nino storms. The big impacts, the heavy rain totals as this moisture streams in tonight and tomorrow morning will continue to be mountains of marin county, mountains of santa cruz, boulder creek. Right now were seeing a little bit of a break. Been raining up there for a long time. Theyre getting breaks up there. Heaviest rain now moving down through san jose and those showers, look at the aerial distribution. Its all over the place. From morgan hill up and the yellow areas, pretty aggressive. 2 an inch per hour. Doesnt sound like a lot but it is. Pretty aggressive rainfall rate. You may see an inch an hour. Storm warnings in the mountains. Well talk about where its going to be wet tomorrow morning when you head out to work again. The rain is making for a slow monday evening commute. Look at the drive time traffic map, all of the red you see there, those are areas where it is very slow going. One of them is the bay bridge toll plaza but not heading in to the east bay, heading in to San Francisco. This is reverse commute but it is packed heading in to San Francisco right now.
