It s the January 6 commission now not in any way minimizing the importance of the Capitol riot or the sincerity of those who believe we need a thorough probe of the attack on our democracy.
But we can t pretend this thing isn t permeated by politics on both sides. Such a commission would help the Democrats by shining a harsh spotlight on Donald Trump s actions and hurt the Republicans.
