According to Reichelyn Balce, live-in partner of the victim Darren Peñaredondo, the latter was arrested by village watchmen for violating the curfew on April 1. Balce said Peñaredondo only went out to buy mineral water but was arrested and brought to the General Trias Police Station. She said those arrested were ordered to do pumping exercises 100 times. However, the violators were not in sync and had to repeat the exercise until they were able to do almost 300 rounds.

Ildebrandi Usana said they have already asked the chief of police of General Trias to explain and the latter said that there was no such incident as narrated by the family of Danny Peñaredondo. “It was the Chief of Police of Gen Trias denying they ever imposed physical exercises on the quarantine violators. We will take his word for that. He even claimed they provided assistance to the victim’s family to bring him to the different hospitals,” said Usana.
