i don t believe he is. i think that the president made a good case of blaming george bush for the four years he has been president and didn t take responsibility himself. but i think the american people gave this president, if anything, the benefit of the doubt. but there is a heck of a lot of doubt. and now, be careful what you wish for, everything you said in your acceptance speech tonight, you will have to make good on, in your second term to be successful and to have a legacy. the ball s in his court because it s groundhog day. we are back at square one. the house is in control of the republicans. the senate s in control of the democrats. we have obama back in the white house. let me stick with you for just a second. bob, we will get to you in just a minute. given the fact that the president arguably no longer has to pannedder to his base to be re-elected, will he pivot to the center and triangulate in the way bill clinton did, much earlier, of course, in his presidency? well
president obama is more moderate than mitt romney. i think by any objective measure that is simply not true. if you look the way president obama has governed both before the 2010 midterms and particularly after the 2010 midterms when he did nothing to moderate his positions. he did not do a bill clinton style shift toe the center where he tried to triangulate. he has been proud, rather aggressive liberal both the way he governed since the 2010 midterms and in his campaigning. and i think the romney campaign and rnc have an ad out right now calling president obama a liberal. identifying him as such for voters which makes voters jobs a little bit easier. this is opening for romney campaign to continue to make that point and tie his policies with that idealogical label. martha: steve, they will be both out in force in ohio over the course of this week. rob portman will be campaigning with mitt romney as will chris christie. talk to me about the tightening in ohio. ohio, it is, isn t too
uncertainty. what are your sources telling you, how hard is it to break through? we had rumors before, what is fact and rumor? reporter: clear tough, especially because the debate over hosni mubarak s health has constantly been coming up in the course of thepast year and a half since he was ousted from power, similar protests in tahrir square, warnings that his health was deteriorating, and this as he was being brought on charges of corruption, as an accomplice to the deaths of hundreds of protesters in january and february of 2011. he was found guilty on most charges and acquitted on corruption charges. we have this middle east news agency report saying that he was clinically dead, denied by supreme council of armed forces which is arguing he is in critical condition now, but that his health is deteriorating, and that is overshadowing the political struggle under way of the seismic political changes we ve seen. with historic presidential elections last weekend taking place
like a left wing nut with class warfare, all this stuff, or articulating a vision that inspires people. he clearly can t do the latter, so he s doing the former. it will hurt him with independents, midwestern voters, young voters, college-educated voters, women, all of whom who have declined in their support for him larger than the national average. his problem will get worse before it gets better because of what i think is a completely flawed and stupid strategy. sean: so a billion dollars in class warfare you re saying is not going to work, although they seem to have doubled down on it. for all the mistakes that i thought that bill clinton made in his first two years, he had enough sense to change course, pivot, triangulate. right. sean: whether you like dick morris or not, they signed on to welfare reform and big government as we know it and that worked. yeah. charles krauthammer is
