The New York-based grocer canceled their plans for what would have been Cary s second Wegmans, the company told The News & Observer Monday.
The company said another Wegmans store in Cary would be excluded from its future plans following the successful opening of three long-awaited Wegmans stores in the Triangle. Online shopping has grown tremendously, fueled in part by COVID-19, enabling us to serve customers in a much greater radius than was originally projected, the company said in a statement to The N&O. This has allowed us to plan our growth differently than we have in the past. As a result, we have decided not to move forward with the proposed Cary, NC location.

Growing up, Latasha Holloway remembers her grandmother, QuoVadis Wright, telling her stories of the Triangle Blockâa Black-owned business community in downtown Williamsburg. Hollowayâs relatives and ancestors owned businesses in the area until the middle of the 20th century when decades of local government action drove the Black business people out of the area.

A wind farm that is scheduled to be built off North Carolina’s Outer Banks is projected to create nearly 200 full-time jobs in Virginia and North Carolina.
The Virginian-Pilot reported Tuesday that the projection comes from an economic study by alternative energy developer Avangrid Renewables.
The firm calculated that the project would add $2 billion to the region’s economy over the next decade.
The Kitty Hawk Offshore Wind Project will be built roughly 27 miles off Corolla. Construction is set to begin in 2024. The projected is expected to be completed in 2030.
However, a buyer is still needed.
