Memories of Valiant War Heroes Venerated on National War Heroes’ Day Memories of Valiant War Heroes Venerated on National War Heroes’ Day Written by Share: COLOMBO (News 1st); The undying memories of unfailing valour and gallantry of Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and Civil Security Department War Heroes who laid their lives in defence of the Motherland were recalled and venerated on National War Heroes’ Day (19) at the National War Heroes’ Monument in Battaramulla, Sri Jayawardenepura, amidst fluttering National Flags and Military Ceremonials. After declaring May as the commemorative month for War Heroes, the Ministry of Defence has been annually commemorating the event island-wide, although prevailing health restrictions this year restricted its full commemoration.

The three-day event is already underway at Kevadia. Ahead of PM Modi s visit, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in the conference and took note of the situation of Line of Actual Control (LAC) to Line of Control (LoC) till Maritime Boundry along with preparations and welfare. Speaking at the conference, Rajnath Singh dwelled on a wide spectrum of issues affecting the defence and security of the nation.

Share: Colombo (News 1st/Army); Exclusively designed military uniforms, expected to reflect the high professional standards, personal appearance and esprit de corps that the Sri Lankan Tri-Services represent will in future be worn by All Retired tri-service personnel not only to symbolize military status after retirement but also to depict that the mindset that being a ‘Soldier’ is a lifelong proposition, deeply respected and well-recognized in society. The inaugural ceremony for introducing a set of new uniforms to all retired tri-service War Heroes to wear during national events, service events or non-military functions took place on Tuesday (02) at Colombo Defence Services College (DSC) auditorium, headed by General (retd) Kamal Gunarathna, Secretary, to Ministry of Defence and Secretary, State Ministry of National Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management as the Chief Guest.
