El Dorado city council members and Mayor Donald Brock discussed the Oil Town Festival during their monthly meeting on Monday. The Oil Town Festival was held all day on Saturday at Tennyson Park in Smackover .
The Oil Town festival returned to Tennyson Park in Smackover on Saturday for the first time since 2019, filling the park with local vendors, food trucks, live music and fun activities for the entire day. A mid-day rainstorm postponed activities but events were set to continue after the storm subsided. Activities were numerous and included a petting zoo, an arm wrestling contest, a rib cook-off, a drill bit toss and much more. Live acts such as Trey Gauthreaux and the Boomer Hill Band provided music as crowds thronged the park looking to join in on the fun. The event was organized by the City of Smackover and the Smackover Chamber.
Local cyclists have made a point to support worthy causes in the past, and two friends say this Saturday's fourth Pedals for Compassion Ride benefitting Magnolia's Domestic Violence Shelter, is one of the rides they don't miss.
