Black Lives Matter murals coming to Ypsilanti ahead of Juneteenth celebration

YPSILANTI, MI – Local artists, activists and community members will paint “Black Lives Matter” murals on two different streets in downtown Ypsilanti on June 5-6.
The Ypsilanti City Council unanimously approved a proposal for the murals at its Feb. 16 meeting, and organizers have since raised more than $10,000 for support and supplies, according to Trische Duckworth, executive director of the community organization Survivors Speak and an organizer of the event, along with Trevor Stone, community builder at Nonprofit Enterprise at Work.
One mural is being painted on South Washington Street off Michigan Avenue, and the other is on the riverside entry driveway off Cross Street, Duckworth said.

Passenger Lisbet Stone says she is stuck in Madrid Airport after airline officials said her coronavirus test result was out of date.
The test must be taken in the three days before travelling.
For those with connecting flights, the test must be 72 hours before your final departure point to England.
Anyone arriving without one faces a fine of up to £500.
Mrs Stone originally travelled to Cuba in February 2020 to see family. The British Cuban dual national was unable to fly home to the UK when Cuba closed its borders in March.
