The man survived and is now being charged with attempted murder of a police officer. Abc 7 News Reporter katie utehs is live at Police Headquarters with new details about the suspected shooter. Katie . Reporter police say theyll likely release the mans identity tomorrow after he has been booked tonight in jail. They do know him. He has a lengthy criminal history and he may have been trying to commit another crime when they arrived. Officers responded to the big 5 on tully road for the report of a man with a gun. Store Surveillance Video shows him looking inside. He may have been casing the store there, the big 5 Sporting Goods store. When officers arrived on scene, the suspect immediately opened fire on the officers. The officers returned
The veteran sheriffs deputy plaued into his car. The deputy has been identi identified. The deputy was driving home from a shift when his car was struck on the at pass. Its not fun seeing your employee draped with an american flag. Reporter twice in less than three months he has had to announce the death of one of his own. In this case a man he hired ten years ago. Ken was on his way home after a lock overnight shift at the jail. The vehicle was stopped or driving slowly in the number two lane. At the same time the driver of a white 2016 touring bus was also driving eastbound 580. For reasons still under investigation the front of the tour bus collided into the rear of the beetle. Reporter they estimate it was traveling 65 Miles Per Hour when i know the hit the beetle. They say the bus driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and he and his 51 passengers all escaped plmajor injury. Okay. He just has a skinned knee. His parents have taken him to the doctor. You can imagine it was very frightening for him. Apparently he was pretty brave too and only cried a little bit. The park says youre supposed to cross your arms and legs when you go down that slide. He did not cross his legs, although its still very concerning this happened at all. As a result, the park has closed that slide to make sure its safe. We have a Maintenance Person from the installer coming out right now to check that piece of equipment with us and make sure that everything is operating as per the guides. So well make sure its safe before we turn it back on. Reporter and this is the grand opening of the park as you said. It was supposed to be a special weekend that now has a little bit of issues that were trying to figure out. People are still showing up and there are still kids on the slides.
