While most high school athletes are taking a break during this week’s MSHSAA-mandated “dead week” period, the Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors are enjoying an extended summer season. Despite second-place finishes in both the Zone 1 Tournament and the Missouri AAA State Tournament, the Post 5 Seniors will be playing this week in the Mid-South Regional Tournament at Bobby Hayes Stadium in Pelham, Ala.
It has been a near-perfect summer for the Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors. Boasting a 19-1-1 record this season, the Post 5 Seniors begin postseason play tonight against Pacific Post 320 in the Missouri American Legion AAA Zone 1 Tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Ronsick Field in Washington. Jefferson City has been unbeaten since June 12.
COLUMBIA The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors were the last team to advance to bracket play of the CoMo Classic.
Once they got their foot in the door, they let their play do the talking.
ST. CHARLES The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors capped a 6-0 record Sunday in the Play 9 Sports St. Louis Elite Series Tournament with a 7-6 victory against the St. Louis Gamers 17U Gray team at Lindenwood University.
The St. Elizabeth Hornets feel like they’re finally getting in a routine. After playing just seven games in the first four weeks of the baseball season, St. Elizabeth capped its busiest week of the season Saturday with a two-game sweep at Haley Field, blanking the Lone Jack Mules 12-0 in five innings and defeating the New Bloomfield Wildcats 8-5.
