The Crash Palace is about a woman named Audrey, who used to work in the oil fields and attend parties at a remote lodge in the wilderness known as the Crash Palace. Audrey has long left that life behind her, and now has a daughter. But one night, she is compelled to return to the now-abandoned Crash Palace where she must also reckon with her past.

Jenny Heijun Wills is the author of “Older Sister. Not Necessarily Related.” It won the 2019 Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Nonfiction prize and the 2020 Eileen McTavish Sykes Best First Book Prize. It was a 2019 Globe & Mail Best Book and a 2019 CBC Best in Canadian Non-Fiction Book. She is Chancellor’s Research Chair at the University of Winnipeg where she also teaches in the English Department. She is writing a novel.
a lot of occupiers a lot of people are out here tonight. occupy oakland and san francisco together in union square as shoppers take in black friday festivities. for occupy yes, sirs it means occupying stores like macy s and sacks fifth avenue where they didn t always get a warm welcome. but police were never far from the action. even as they gathered at the tree lighting ceremony. today was a good day because people were all hyped up and looking for the sales, and they are not thinking about people at all. they are thinking money. it is a good day for awareness. this family disagrees. that s the wrong time. kids don t care. this is for the kids. not for politics. put your abilities toward getting a job rather than saying somebody else is doing something wrong. maybe there is that in our nation to spend your time somewhere more positive. there was no trouble at the ceremony. the uke pyers went back out to block more entrances like at apple in stockton where they
