The West Virginia University golf team shot the eighth-best round in school history with a 10-under-par day in the second round of the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Florida.
WVU’s 10-under-par score for round two was three shots shy of the school record, and it was the second-lowest score of the day behind No. 1 Oklahoma’s 12-under round. The Mountaineers jumped seven spots in the team standings and are now in seventh place at 2-over-par after 36 holes. WVU is three shots behind USF for sixth place.

West Virginia University senior Mark Goetz finished 6-under-par and tied for sixth place on the individual leaderboard to lead the Mountaineer golf team at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Greensburg, Pennsylvania, native shot 1-under-par on Sunday to post a three-day score of 72-67-71=210. He recorded 18 birdies during the 54-hole tournament to tie his second lowest three-day total of his Mountaineer career. Goetz’s 67 round on Saturday matched his season-best score of the abbreviated 2019-20 season.
“Mark played outstanding this week, and I’m very happy for him,” coach Sean Covich said. “He has put in the work and continues to improve. Last season, he played this same tournament and left here very disappointed, but he learned from it, went to work and it paid off.”

The West Virginia University golf team completed play Friday in the first round of the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee, Florida.
Senior Mark Goetz led the way for the Mountaineers, recording five birdies and shooting even par. The Greensburg, Pennsylvania, native is tied for 21
st after 18 holes.
Junior Kurtis Grant also recorded five birdies on Friday and finished the day at 2-over-par. The Herndon, Virginia, native will go into Saturday’s second round tied for 35
