Trussville teen indicted on capital murder charge

TRUSSVILLE A Trussville teen charged with capital murder was indicted on March 12, 2021. Steven Chase Lafoy, 18, is charged with capital murder in the death of Trent Thomas Parkerson. Lafoy was 17 at the time of the shooting, on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Lafoy was originally given a bond and posted a $500,000 property bond to be released from the Jefferson County Jail. However, that bond was revoked after he was arrested in November, for possession of marijuana. Police believe Lafoy shot and killed Parkerson outside of a home in the 7600 block of Happy Hollow Road. Parkerson, 18, was pronounced dead on the scene. He was inside a locked vehicle.

He is charged in the April 1, 2020 killing of 18-year-old Trent Thomas Parkerson. They were friends and football teammates. The shooting happened about 3:20 a.m. that Wednesday outside Lafoy’s home in the 7600 block of Happy Hollow Road. Trussville police said the two teens both were students at Hewitt-Trussville High School. When police arrived at the location, they found Parkerson inside of a locked vehicle that was still in gear. He had been shot one time and was later pronounced dead on the scene.
