The Wellington Guelph Drug Strategy (WGDS) has issued a health alert after four people died of suspect drug overdoses across Wellington County.
WGDS said the deaths were reported since Feb. 21 in Guelph, Rockwood, Elora and Arthur. Fentanyl is believed to be involved … and may suggest that a stronger than normal substance is circulating in our communities, the WGDS said in a release on Monday.

This is the second in a two-part series highlighting the drug-poisoning crisis in Kingston. Part 1 was published in the Whig-Standard on Dec. 29, and online on Dec. 28.
On the afternoon of Dec. 11, three people were “nodding” on the couches inside the Integrated Care Hub’s Consumption and Treatment Services site. The sight is common with many street substances laced with benzodiazepines, causing prolonged sedation.
