Apple WatchOS 7.2 update adds Cardio fitness notifications, Apple Fitness+ and more
Apple has released a new software update to the Apple Watch, bringing the version number to WatchOS 7.2. This updates adds some very useful features such as Cardio fitness notifications and adds support for the Apple Fitness+ app, which was announced back in September. Along with this, there are also performance improvements and bug fixes.
One of the biggest new features with this update is the Cardio fitness notifications in the Health app, measured as the VO2 Max. The app can now use the Apple Watch to measure low cardio fitness with its sensors and notify the user if it falls too low. The Apple Watch can also estimate if the user might experience lower levels using its optical heart sensor, GPS, and the accelerometer and provide users with warnings, for example before high-intensity workouts.
If you’ve pre-ordered a pair of AirPods Max or fancy slimming the midriff with a subscription to Apple Fitness+, which includes unlimited access to pre-recorded fitness classes in a variety of disciplines to follow along at home, or using equipment in your local gym, you’ll need to update to iOS 14.3 or it won’t work.
To update your iPhone, you’ll need to head to
Settings > General > Software Update. Tapping on the latter will trigger your iPhone to start checking for the latest version of iOS. If you’re running the latest version of the operating system, you will be notified. If not, iOS 14.3 will appear with a button to Download and Install.
