In celebration of the holiday season, we asked Patch readers to send us photos of their handmade gingerbread house creations. And, boy, were we impressed! The entries included edible replicas of local landmarks, a gingerbread greenhouse and even Hogwarts Castle. Check out some of our favorites below, and you might even be inspired to create your own.

Have you ever seen Mrs. Claus greenhouse? Created from a handmade pattern with gelatin windows, this gingerbread greenhouse is where Mrs. Claus tends to the winter evergreens and poinsettias while Santa is busy loading his sleigh.

MARYLAND A time-honored tradition that dates back to 16th century Germany, making gingerbread houses can be both fun and competitive. They quickly became a Christmas tradition, according to PBS, and grew in popularity around the world when the Brothers Grimm penned the story of Hansel and Gretel in which the brother and sister discover a house made of gingerbread and sugary sweets deep in the woods.
