CHICO, Calif. - Thursday, Chico Fire held its annual swift water training at the Sycamore Pool. Firefighters set up a system of ropes to practice capturing victims.
Chico Fire said they do this training every year to make sure firefighters are prepared to rescue people in the winter when we experience high flows in the creeks and in the channels. We stretch a rope across the creek, and we tension it at an angle and then we can hang other ropes off of that as basically creating a net for other victims,” Chico Fire swift water trainer, Travis Eagan explained. “Lots of options and places for victims to grab on to and be able to pull them to shore.”
