Under the new code, any driver who causes the death of a person by rash and negligent driving and flees from the spot will be jailed for up to 10 years and/or fined
Truckers strikes in India have caused heavy traffic jams, long queues at fuel stations, and a panic situation among the people. The protests are triggered by the provisions under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which states that a driver who causes a serious road accident through negligent driving and flees without reporting the incident will face up to 10 years in prison or a fine of Rs 7 lakh.
