At reader request, I’ve added this daily chart from 91-DIVOC. The data is the Johns Hopkins CSSE data. Here is the site.
I feel I’m engaging in a macabre form of tape-watching. All the charts are becoming dull approaching nominal, if you accept the “new normal” of cases, for example.
Maybe the free beer is a better idea than we thought? Or, credit where it’s due, perhaps people listened to Biden? (We might speculate from Michigan that asking, as opposed to compelling, does seem to, if not work, at least not fail.)
Over 100 "Never-Trumper" Republicans threaten to form a new party that are 'loyal to the party platform' if the current GQP doesn't break away from the personality cult.

A group of at least 100 Republican former officials is threatening to form a separate party if the GOP does not separate itself from former President Donald Trump, according to multiple media reports. The “Call for American Renewal,” first reported by Reuters and NBC News, is expected to be detailed in a letter released Thursday. It is being organized by Miles Taylor, a former Trump administration official who penned the then-anonymous New York Times’ op-ed “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration,” in 2018.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) â Over 100 former Republican officials will sign a letter on Thursday declaring that if the Republican Party does not break with former President Donald Trump and change course, they will back the creation of a third party.
The letter, headlined: âA Call For American Renewal,â is an exploratory move toward forming a breakaway party, two of its organizers said. The group is dismayed by what it says is a modern Republican Party driven by its allegiance to Trump, who continues to falsely claim the 2020 election was stolen from him.
âThe Republican Party is broken. Itâs time for a resistance of the ârationalsâ against the âradicals, â said Miles Taylor, one of the organizers. Taylor, while serving in the Trump White House, wrote an anonymous opinion piece in the New York Times in 2018 headlined: âI Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.â
