The variant of concern bingo sheet has been achieved as the first case of the P.1 (Brazil variant) has been identified in Manitoba.
The case, confirmed through sequencing in the province, comes in an individual from the Interlake-Eastern Health region, one of 87 new variants of concern cases announced by public health on Thursday.

Manitoba has now seen 647 VOC cases, of which 288 remain active. Two deaths have been attributed to variants of concern, which are largely made up of the B.1.1.7 variant first identified in the United Kingdom, 567 (88%) of the cases. The B.1.351 (South Africa variant) totals 20 cases, while 59 cases are uncategorized.
