A redesign of the intersection of Elm and Cherry Street was completed this week from the Texas Department of Transportation which will alter traffic patterns at the location. Following approval from the Transportation Improvements Committee in September 2023 and the Graham City Council in October 2023, the project by TxDOT was started and completed Wednesday, Jan. 10. At the end of September the Transportation Improvements Committee discussed and approved a recommendation for a potential redesign of the intersection.
The city of Graham is pursuing a grant in 2025 through the Texas Department of Transportation for a proposed sidewalk project, which includes paths from South Street to Walmart Drive and various other streets. After being approved by the Transportation Improvements Committee during their meeting Tuesday, Oct. 24, the item was forwarded to Graham City Council for approval. Council met Thursday, Nov. 9 and gave the approval to consider the project during future budget planning.

The committee had safety concerns due to multiple entry points onto Elm Street from Cherry Street causing hazards for motorists attempting to turn south on Elm Street from Cherry Street.
