The Tiszavirág (mayfly) pedestrian and cyclist bridge in Szolnok has been elected Hungary’s bridge of the year for 2021.
In 2021, the Pontooners’ Association and the Hungarian Scientific Association for Transportation (KTE) again announced the Bridge of the Year competition, in order to draw attention to the importance of bridges in transport.
Ten arch bridges were up for this year’s title, including the cyclist bridge over the Eger stream at Lake Tisza, the Tiszavirág footbridge in Szolnok, and the Varasd valley bridge over the 30 meter deep Varasd valley in Mecseknádasd, Baranya County.
The Szolnok bridge was announced the winner on the Day of Transport Culture, May 11th.
