36,000 people hospitalized, with the new variant the white house continued to push people to get updated booster shots but just 16% of those eligible have received them. now the team leading the covid response is getting a shakeup. david kessler, who served as the top science official is stepping down for a planned retirement according to health and human services. kessler has been leading the efforts to move medical coverage for covid vaccines to the private market this year not the federal government. the white house says even though the vaccines can t stop you from getting covid they do prevent or lessen the chance of serious illness or death. rachel, will, pete. rachel: thank you so much. they say that, there is no proof of that, what the government saying well, it doesn t prevent covid but it lessens the symptoms. we have no study on that. there is nothing proving that whatsoever. i want to mention later in the show we re ininterviewing a young filmmaker who actually had
