“There’s no curbside pickup for travel”: Travelweek’s virtual conference rallies industry together

TORONTO Thousands of travel agents and industry professionals tuned into Travelweek’s latest Future of Travel virtual conference, a sign that engagement and optimism remain high despite heading into the pandemic’s second summer.
Airing yesterday, May 19 as a webcast and on Facebook, ‘Future of Travel: Sunnier Days Ahead,’ the fourth instalment in the hugely successful virtual conference series, featured an esteemed panel of keynote speakers from across the industry, all of whom addressed key issues concerning travel agents amid the pandemic, from refunds and commission protections, to the Canada-U.S. border and domestic tourism.
One Year After Our Last In-Person Event, We Canât Wait to Be Back

It’s been just about a year now since TMR’s last in-person event, Travel Market Place West, wrapped up in Vancouver, Canada.
We, like the rest of the attendees, had no idea that the impact of COVID-19 would be so catastrophic that we’d not only be unable to complete our second event later in 2020 in Toronto, but we’d also be plunged into a lockdown at home and we’d spend the next year living in a new Zoom-centric world.
But now, 12 months removed from the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in North America, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. In the U.S., the White House announced this week that all adults will be able to be vaccinated starting on May 1. In Canada, just this week the government entered the much-anticipated ramp-up phase of its national mass vaccination campaign.
