Ghaziabad: The landfill right in the middle of Indirapuram’s Shakti Khand will soon be a thing of the past.
Officials said that the work of clearing the site of 1.5 lakh tonne of legacy waste has been underway since October last year and by October this year it will be completely cleared.
The company hired to do the job is not only clearing the landfill site but is also employing bio-remedial methods to treat the mound of waste that has been lying for the past one-and-a-half decade.
An official from Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) said, “The company that we had hired to clear the legacy waste from 35,000 sqm of land in Indirapuram’s Shakti Khand has been doing the job from October last year and so far it has cleared a lot of waste. We hope that the area will be cleared completely by October this year.”
