Western receives part of $7 million mental health support grant

Western s Thames Hall, Nov. 16, 2018.Liam McInnis / GAZETTE Western is expanding mental health supports for students after increased funding from the province in response to COVID-19.  Western University received over $500,000, which will be used in collaboration with affiliate colleges on a variety of proactive programming for students. These programs will include resources to support food insecurity, sleep hygiene workshops and additional mental health stigma promotion to reduce barriers to students accessing supports, according to associate vice-president of student experience, Jennie Massey. The Ontario government provided $7 million province-wide to increase access to mental health and addiction services both on-campus and virtually for post-secondary students during the coronavirus pandemic. These funds build upon the previously announced $19 million investment for mental health supports at post-secondary institutions.

He noted a positive review, where Jules Gill-Peterson called his book “our little yellow book,” a reference to Mao Zedong’s Little Red Book. He then read a critical review written by an anonymized Goodreads reviewer deeming his book “ultimately feels rough and scattershot, like a series of disparate essays in search of a connecting thesis.”

Every day, our volunteers are out there delivering hot meals and a friendly visit to over 800 homes throughout out the Tampa Bay area, said Stephen King, executive director of Meals on Wheels Tampa. For 46 years, Meals on Wheels Tampa has been helping the elderly keep their independence. It really is an honor and a privilege, a blessing to be able to help them in these later stages in life so that they can remain in their own homes, King explained.
